     Beginning balance as of September 30, 2023: $25,585.86

     Ending balance as of October 31, 2023:            $25,285.86 

VI. AOC Report (Jane Siling) 

  • 09.13.2023 - Tampa Police Department (One on One - 1); A Tampa Police officer was traveling west on Busch Blvd. heading to a call for service. A group of juveniles was crossing Busch Blvd. (not in a crosswalk). The officer had a green light when she crossed through the intersection of N. 22nd St. She swerved to avoid the bulk of the juveniles but could not avoid striking a 13 year old female who was on her bicycle with the group. The juvenile was transported to the hospital with a head injury and broken femur. The officer was emotional over the event while on scene. [#544]
  • 09.19.2023 - Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (Defusing - 6); Pediatric drowning. Patient was a year old. Found in the pool for undetermined amount of time but security footage estimated approximately 10 minutes. CPR was in progress by a physician on scene. Child was transported emergency to St. Joseph's Hospital. ROSC (Return of Spontaneous Circulation) was not received however after follow up at the ER, the child was alive and in critical condition.   • 09.17.2023 - Tampa Police Department (One on Ones - 3); Two Tampa Police vehicles were involved in a traffic crash. One vehicle had a Field Training Officer and his Probationary Officer while the other patrol vehicle had one officer inside. The 3 officers were transported to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries and were subsequently released to full duty. [#546]
  • 10.03.2023 - Pasco Emergency Communications (One on One - 1); Call taker took a second party call reference a suicide attempt. Caller was on scene to help the victim but when the caller walked outside to take the victim's dogs for a walk, the victim shot himself. The call taker experienced an emotional breakdown during the call where she needed to mute her phones to compose herself. This was the first time the call taker had experienced an emotional breakdown during a call. [#547] 
  • 10.11.2023 - Pasco Emergency Communications (One on Ones - 2); Call-taker took a first party call of a victim of a home burglary in progress. Call-taker could hear the suspect in the background after hearing the victim speak to the suspect. The victim was a burglary/kidnapping victim. Call-taker processed calls but later began to hesitate on subsequent calls and then reached out for CISM assistance. [#548]
  • 10.18.2023 - Tampa Police Department (One on One - 1); On October 15, 2023, an officer responded to a child that fell from a 4th floor residence window. The child was admitted to the ICU and was pronounced brain dead on October 17th. [#549]
  • 10.26.2023 - Pasco Emergency Communications (One on One - 1); Call-taker took a call for a 7-week-old child who was having difficulty breathing. The child was screaming in the background of the call and had previous medical issues. At one point, the child was turning purple and stopped crying. The call-taker was on her 3rd night of training and experienced an emotional reaction to everything heard in the background. [#550]
  • 10.15.2023 - Tampa Fire Rescue (One on Ones - 6); A 3-year-old child fell out of a 4th floor window and succumbed to her life-threatening injuries. Also see IRF #549. [#551]
  • 10.29.2023 - Tampa Fire Rescue (One on Ones - 6); Mass casualty incident with multiple gunshot wound victims resulting in 2 fatalities. [#552]
  • 11.03.2023 - Tampa Police Department (Debriefing - 16); On October 29, 2023, a mass shooting incident near Centro Ybor in Tampa's Ybor City entertainment district. The incident resulted in two deaths (14-year-old and a 22-year-old) and at least 15 others being shot. There were no injuries to officers nor shots fired by police. Also, refer to IRF #552. [#553]
  • 11.03.2023 - Tampa Police Department (Debriefing - 14); On October 29, 2023, a mass shooting occurred resulting in 2 deaths and at least 15 others being shot. Also refer to IRFs #552, 553. [#554]

VII. Old Business

  • Peer and Clinical Reviews - (Jane Siling)   Peer and or Clinical Reviews will be conducted at the November General Meeting. To be eligible, one must have registered on the TBRCIT website, completed the online application and have submitted copies of their certificates for the Assisting Individuals in Crisis and Group Crisis Intervention (or Combined class) to Jane Siling at jsiling@aol.com.

     Those eligible for Clinical Review are: N. Allen, S. Garcia.

VIII. New Business

  •  Committees - (Jane Siling) There are five Committees: Peer Review, Hospitality, Training, Nominating and Recognition. Sign-up sheets will be available at this meeting. The President will make the final selections prior to the December Board meeting.
  • TBRCIT Contact Phone Number - (Jane Siling) The Team phone number (813.644.2488) is no longer available. If needed, please utilize Jane Siling's number (813.309.1002) until further advised. Remember to remove the old number from the educational handouts, etc.

IX. Announcements

  • All 2023 General Meetings will be held at the HCSO Falkenburg Road Jail, Assembly Room located at 520 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa 33619 unless otherwise advised.
